PM Shehbaz Sharif Announces Economic Relief Measures in His First Address

The newly elected Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, has announced a host of economic relief measures for the public during his first address as Prime Minister. Shehbaz Sharif said that hard work was required for Pakistan’s progress and everyone needs to work together to undo the effects of the previous government.

In his address, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that minimum wage of government employees will be jacked up to Rs. 25,000, while a 10 percent increase will be implemented to the pensions of retired civil, and military officials. The changes will be implemented w.e.f 1^st April 2022.

The premier also announced that cheap wheat will be made available for the public through the Utility Stores, while the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) would be restored, which would likely put an end to the PTI’s Ehsaas Kafalat Program. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif added that Benazir Card will also be introduced for the masses and interlink with the education sector in a bid to facilitate people whose children go to school.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that laptops and technical education would be made available for the youth of the country. It is pertinent to mention that during PML-N’s tenure from 2013 to 2018, the students were provided with laptops and tablets based on their merit.

He also appealed to the industrialists to increase the salaries of employees who earn up to Rs. 100,000 by 10% as well. The premier noted that Pakistani currency regained its value, which was trading at Rs. 190 against US Dollar, to Rs. 182 against the foreign currency today.

Shehbaz Sharif was elected the Prime Minister of Pakistan after securing 174 votes as opposed to the PTI candidate Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who received no votes after his party boycotted the election procress.
