Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has once again urged YouTube to restore the YouTube Channel of prominent Religious Scholar Dr Israr Ahmed. This was the second time PTA sent a letter to YouTube regarding the matter.
In the letter, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) demanded that YouTube should restore the Channel of Dr Israr Ahmed as it did not violate any policies. The regulator added that Dr Israr’s YouTube Channel did not contain any hateful content as stated by the video streaming service.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said that Dr Israr Ahmed’s YouTube Channel contained lectures on Islamic teachings and the suspension of the channel has hurt the feelings of millions of Muslims. It added that the banning of the YouTube channel of a well-known scholar was unacceptable and YouTube needs to reconsider its decision.
It is pertinent to mention that YouTube had banned Dr Israr Ahmed’s Channel on the video streaming platform on 1st April 2022 and the channel had over 3 million subscribers.
