What is a Root? should I root or not ?

Rooting? is a common term used for android devices, What is Rooting? How to Root? What is a Root? Most of the users are not completely unaware of what rooting is, so here’s a short answer what Rooting is. Well, rooting is in its definition a way to obtain root access to your phone. Does this still not tell you much? Good, then read on.

What is a Root ?

In a way it’s sort of the Android equivalent to jailbreaking an iPhone, but with much more options. Rooting is basically opening up the whole OS and files ystem so that you can make any changes you want to the system. Things like changing the kernel (which acts as a medium between hardware and software), changing the entire look of the software, installing custom ROMs (such as Cyanogenmod) which give added features, and running root only apps (such as ones to block ads, to backup your apps and the system) If you don’t like something on your phone, you can modify it or change it to something different

Rooting

This was the geek definition. Now, translating this into English, it means that some applications (some of them widely available in the Android Market), require some deeper privileges to work. Applications like Wireless Tether or Quick Boot are just a few examples of these apps.

By rooting your phone, it won’t become faster but it won’t become slower either. What rooting means is that you’ll have the option to grant some applications more access than they would normally have.

Now, as to knowing whether your phone is rooted or not, that’s a quite simple task. A rooted Android phone will have an additional application (installed automatically upon the rooting process), that is called “Superuser Permissions”. You don’t need to use this app but just the fact alone that it sits there, gives you this possibility. If an application ever requires root permissions, you will get a notice saying that the app is requesting super user permissions. Obviously, if you trust the app you will grant these permissions – if you don’t trust it, you’ll deny them.

The dangers are things like deleting or changing something that shouldn’t be changed, or installing a kernel (for example) that isn’t compatible and you can mess your phone up pretty bad. It’s pretty hard to do nowadays but it can happen.

Back in 2007 and 2008 Symbian Series by Nokia introduced firmware which was upgradable and changeable with custom one, Iphone Jailbreaking is the same thing  If I make it more easier for you to understand,  The Software on which Hardware is working after rooting can be changed with custom ROM, after which Android phone can be overclocked , Internal space can be extended by breaking parition even the User Interface can be totally changed.

There are certain advantages of Rooting but also there are disadvantages too, first of all, Warranty void since no company takes the claim once the phone is rooted, 2ndly if you messed up with the original backup than your in a deep trouble. It is recommended for the advance users when needed, for the phones which has internal memory issue such as Noir A5 ( which rootable ) has a limited internal memory but after rooting changes can be made.

Personally I wouldn’t suggest to all the users to ROOT if they are using Noir A6 , A8 , A10 , These phones are already got enough Internal space for the apps and Processor works fine benchmark test and GPU is all in front of you, there are many possibilities that you end up troubling yourself and no matter you unroot ( as mentioned in a post in Reviews ) Company will know easily that you have reprogrammed the phone, so kindly avoid rooting unless you are not expert on Android OS and needed to Root for a specific purpose.
