In a tragic incident, a woman allegedly became the victim of gang-rape at the hands of Pakistan Railway staff on board the Bahauddin Zakariya Express, which was traveling from Multan to Karachi. According to the details, the suspects who gang-raped the women on the train, included ticket-checker Zahid, and his accomplice, Train Manager, Aaqib.
Furthermore, a case has been registered against the suspects on the compliant of the woman at the Karachi City Station Police. In the First Information Report (FIR), the victim, who hails from Karachi’s Orangi Town, states that she boarded the train from Multan Railway Station as she went to meet her children in at her in-laws in Muzaffargarh.
The ticket checker, Zahid, and the Train Manager, Aaqib, took the victim to an AC compartment of a bogie on the Bahauddin Zakariya Express where they gang-raped her and fled the scene. The woman, after reaching Karachi Railway Station, explained the ordeal to the police and lodged a complaint against the alleged suspects.
The victim, in her statement to the police, said that when the train left Rohri Station, the ticket checker, Zahid, approached her, offering to give her a berth in an AC compartment. However, the ticket checker followed her to the apartment and gang-raped her along with two other people, including Train Manager Aaqib and Zohaib, while giving her life threats.
Pakistan Railways Statement
The Railway Minister and Chairman Railway have expressed regret over the incident and directed the Railway Administration and Railway Police to immediately arrest the accused. He directed to ensure prevention of such incidents in private (outsourced) trains.

However, SP Railways Mehar Kosar Abbas said that the woman, who was gang-raped on the Bahauddin Zakariya Express by the Pakistan Railway staff, did not report the incident to anyone upon reaching Karachi and the Railway Police had approached her on its own and took her statement.
Suspects Arrested
According to reports, the suspects, who hailed from Samundri, Jahanian and Shor Kot, involved in the Bahauddin Zakariya Express gang-rape incident have been arrested. The investigation of the incident is underway by the authorities.
