The Federal Cabinet has approved a 15% increase in the salaries of government employees along with a 5% increase in pensions.
The decision comes shortly before the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif-led Government is set to present its first budget for the fiscal year 2022-23.
Furthermore, the Federal Cabinet met on Friday to review the budget proposals, which will be presented in the National Assembly by Finance Minister Miftah Ismail following the approval of the Cabinet.
Earlier, the Finance Minister announced that Pakistan and IMF agreed to increase the salaries of Government Employees. He added that salaries will be increase as per the economic situation of the country.
It is pertinent to mention that Finance Minister had earlier quoted the Prime Minster saying, “If there are four brothers and one bread [roti] then everyone needs to need together from it until there are four breads [roti] then everyone can eat their own.”
Despite the message, the Government has now approved the increase in the salaries of employees amid heavy inflation being faced by the common man.
