The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a hike in power tariff across the country. According to the details, the power regulatory has approved an additional Rs. 3.99 per unit increase in the electricity prices in Pakistan as Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for April.
According to a notification issued by NEPRA, ex-WAPDA Distribution Companies (DISCOS) had charged consumers a reference Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) of Rs. 6.61 per unit in April, however, the actual fuel cost turned out to be Rs. 10.6 per unit, which means a difference of Rs. 3.99 per unit will now be charged to power consumers.
It is pertinent to mention that this increase is applicable to all consumer categories except for lifeline consumers and the hike in electricity prices would reflect in the June bill as Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) separately in the consumers on the basis of units billed to them in the month of April.
NEPRA Hikes K-Electric Power Tariff
Meanwhile, the NEPRA has also approved a hike in power tariff for K-Electric consumers by Rs. 5.28 per unit. According to the details, the increase was made on account of Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for April 2022 and the decision will put an additional burden of billions of rupees on the masses.
