This is our ‘Vivo X80 User Review‘, discussing all the pros and cons of the smartphone as Vivo X80 has made quite the buzz in the smartphone market with its latest features and an outstanding camera performance. While the smartphone is expensive, it is still cheaper than the latest iPhone or Samsung’s flagship device and give both of them a run for their money.
The Vivo X80 was recently launched in Pakistan and unfortunately, the Vivo X80 Pro will never make it here as there is no market for the device considering that it will be priced same as the iPhone 13 Pro Max or Samsung S22 Ultra, which means most people will opt for one of those devices. However, those of you who want to the most out of the smartphone with loaded photography options can opt for the Vivo X80.
In this Vivo X80 user review, we have discussed everything you need to know about the smartphone one by one after thorough testing of the smartphone. This is an unbiased Vivo X80 user review to give you an idea of where does this smartphone stands in terms of performance, camera, and battery compared to the competition.
If you’re thinking of buying a smartphone, you have to ask yourself what exactly are you looking for in a smartphone as not everyone can afford a brand new iPhone 13 Pro Max, especially with PTA Tax being shot up to Rs. 90,000 by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and it is expected to increase even more. Furthermore, the government is simply discouraging people to buy imported smartphones and encouraging everyone to opt for locally assembled smartphones such as Vivo, Realme, Tecno, Infinix, Samsung and others.
My decision to buy the Vivo X80 was based on the reviews of its predecessors like X60 Pro and X70 Pro, which had cameras that were up to the mark and X80 is no exception. Therefore, Vivo X80 became my ideal choice due to the latest features and performance it offered at a reasonable price.
Price
The Price of Vivo X80 in Pakistan is Rs. 159,000, which is Rs. 30,000 cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S22 and the smartphone offers more features, including ZEISS Optics, which make a huge difference to the quality of the photographs and videos you shoot with the device. In my personal opinion, the photos and videos shot with Vivo X80 are far superior than Samsung Galaxy S22.
Internals
Vivo X80 is the ideal option at its price due to its fast processing speed with the Dimensity 9000 chipset from MediaTek, the 1080p AMOLED display running at 120Hz, the 12GB RAM with 265GB of storage and especially the camera, which is equipped with ZEISS Optics for professional photography and videography.
The smartphone is very responsive in terms of normal usage and doesn’t lag at all. I did not experience any stutters during my usage throughout the week. I loaded the smartphone with several apps and kept them open in the background, however, there was no lag or stutter during normal usage of the device.
Display
The smartphone is equipped with a 1080p (1080 x 2400 pixels) display running at 120Hz which make the usage extremely smooth and lag-free. The screen is a massive 6.78 inches and comes equipped with HDR and 1500 nits of peak brightness. The usage is the smartphone feels super-smooth with the high-refresh rate screen especially when scrolling through apps like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
Battery and Charging
The Vivo X80 comes with a 4500mAh battery (non-removable like most smartphones these days) and supports 80W fast charging with the charging adapter included in the box (something rate for high-priced phones these days). In my testing, the Vivo X80 charged from 0-100% in 34 minutes even though the company claims complete charging in 30 minutes.
I used the device for almost a week and got a screen-on-time (SOT) of 6 hour and 30 minutes on average with normal usage that included social media apps, video streaming, and taking some photos and video. However, the battery timing is nothing to worry about since the 80W fast-charging will have you back up and running in no time.
Gaming
The smartphone did not disappoint when it comes to gaming with its flagship level processor (MediaTek Dimensity 9000. Playing games for hours did not heat up the device thanks to the liquid cooling chamb and the overall performance was amazing with games like PUBG Mobile.
Furthermore, the smartphone gave around 4 hours of battery life while playing PUBG before needed to be plugged in. However, it bears mentioning testing was done while using Wi-Fi so you can expect a bit more drain while using mobile data.
Camera
One of the main selling points of the smartphone is the professional camera equipped with Carl ZEISS Optics that enables you to take some breathtaking photographs and videos. The Vivo X80 offers a triple camera setup that includes a 50 megapixel primary sensor, a 12 megapixel telephoto lens, and a 12 megapixel ultrawide camera. Meanwhile, the front selfie camera is equipped with a 32 megapixel sensor that is capable of recording at 4K 30fps.
We have shared some camera samples to help you understand the capability of the device when it comes to photography and videography. Hopefully, this will help you make a decision if you’re leaning towards buying this smartphone purely for taking photos. The camera result of the Vivo X80 is certainly impressive and up to the mark when it comes to devices like Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra or iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Day Time Photos
Low Light and Night Mode Photos
Vivo X80 automatically detects low light situations and adjusts itself to take a crisp and noiseless shots. The night-mode on the device is way ahead of iPhone 13 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra in this category which not only gives you the option of taking a perfect low light photos at night but also offers video recording option with reduced noise.
Note that the quality of the photos has been down-graded due to compression and original image sample from the Vivo X80 are in the folder linked below.

Conclusion
Overall, the Vivo X80 offers almost everything which any end-user wants in a smartphone, including such as a powerful processor, a great camera setup, display, and flash charging. At the end of the day it would be Vivo to keep providing updates and improving any known bugs in the device.
