The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has decided to suspend the driving licenses for repeated violations of traffic rules to ensure traffic discipline and safe road environment in the federal capital. According to the details, the ITP has introduced a system for accountability of those involved in violation of traffic rules.
Senior Superintendent of Traffic Police Syed Mustafa Tanveer said that digital challan record would be reviewed on a regular basis and driving licenses for repeated violators would be cancelled. Meanwhile, he has also directed the Zonal DSPs to ensure traffic discipline in the city and take strict action against any violators.
In its first move, the ITP has scrutinized the digital challan record and listed 17 individuals under sections 15 & 16 of the Motor Vehicle Ordinance who were found guilty of repeated violations. The ITP has instructed six of them to attend traffic rules and road safety classes for five days while the driving licenses of the other 11 violators would be cancelled.
He said that no laxity would be tolerated in maintaining traffic discipline and safe road environment to be ensured at every cost. He also directed the education wing to provide awareness to the road users about traffic rules, adding that offenders would face strict action for violation of traffic rules.
SSP Syed Mustafa Tanveer also urged people to follow traffic laws, otherwise their driving licenses would be cancelled by the ITP for repeated violations. He said that the decision has been taken to implement traffic laws in real sense across the capital so that fatal accidents can be avoided and lives saved.
