The Punjab Government has decided to impose a complete lockdown on all kinds of business activities in Lahore on Sunday in a bid to conserve energy and reduce the increasing power outages. However, the order does not apply to emergency and essential services.
“Sunday will be observed as a closed day for all commercial markets, plazas, shops including those of wholesale and retail, shopping malls, bakeries, confectionaries, offices, store rooms, godowns, warehouses, etc. in Lahore,” read a notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Lahore Omer Sher Chatha.
It is pertinent to mention that Lahore Deputy Commissioner has already issued a notification for the early closure of markets, including shopping malls, except for Saturday. However, medical stores, pharmacies, hospitals, laboratories, milk shops, petrol pumps, motorway service areas and tire repair shops are exempted from the mentioned restriction.
Meanwhile, the district administration has also constituted special teams comprising of Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) and other agencies’ officials to close all commercial activities at the mentioned timings.
