The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Monday approved an increase of Rs. 9.66 per unit in the power tariff for K-Electric consumers on account of Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for May 2022.
According to the details, NEPRA approved the Rs. 9.66 per unit increase in the power tariff for K-Electric after the utility sought an increase of Rs. 11.34 per unit.
The decision was made on account of the increase in LNG prices by 50 percent and furnace oil prices by 38 percent.
Furthermore, the NEPRA chairman assured that the regulator will help the power company get cheap electricity. “We are going to take up the matter with the federal and provincial governments,” said NEPRA chief.
The current hike in the power tariff for K-Electric will put an additional burden of Rs. 380 on the consumers.
