The latest spell of monsoon rain has broken a 20-year record as the provincial capital received 234mm of downfall in seven hours.
According to the Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) Lahore, the highest amount of rain was recorded in Tajpur at 238mm, while 219.6mm was recorded at Airport, 174mm rain has been recorded in Mughalpura, 143mm in Lakshmi Chowk and 116mm rain in Upper Mall and Nishtar Town.
Meanwhile, the city also suffered power outages in several areas as more than 100 feeders of LESCO tripped during the rain, while low-lying areas were inundated due to flooding.

Due to the heavy rain, a woman also lost her life in Lahore. According to the details, the woman, who was a resident of Salamat Pura, died as the roof of her house collapsed on her.
Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned to remain alert in the wake of the current spell of monsoon rains in Lahore and other cities in the province.
