Tezgam Becomes Mujra Express on 14th August 2022

Recently privatized Tezgam Express turned into Mujra Express on Pakistan’s Independence day (14th August 2022) as viral videos have surfaced on social media showing inappropriate activities (dance/mujra) being carried out onboard the train.

In the viral video, the staff of Tezgam Express can be seen enjoying as they watch girls perform dance/mujra as part of Independence Day (14th August 2022) celebration.

The said videos have gone viral on social media and received backlash from the public over the vulgar activities.

However, Tezgam Express wasn’t the only one to transform itself into Mujra Express on Independence Day (14th August 2022) as viral videos of Sir Syed Khan Express have also surfaced online and show the same kind of inappropriate activities being carried out amongst the management.

Pakistan Railways Takes Notice

Meanwhile, the Chief Marketing Manager of Pakistan Railways has taken notice of these incidents and issued show cause notice to M/S NCS Pvt Limited., the private company managing Tezgam Express (7UP/8DN). “Such obnoxious activity is highly condemnable and cognizable under the relevant clauses of the agreement with Pakistan Railways and prevalent law of the land.” said the notice.

According to the notice, the viral videos and inappropriate activities that included dance and mujra on Tezgam Express have violated Section 294 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) which states, “Whoever, to the annoyance of others, – (a) does any obscene act in any public place, or (b) sings, recites or utters an obscene songs, ballad or words, in or near any public place, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three months, or with fine, or with both.”

The Pakistan Railways has called Tezgam Express management to explain their position and show cause within seven days, as to why action action should not be taken against M/S NCS Pvt Limited.
