The Federal Government has announced several measures to facilitate the students belonging to flood-hit areas of the country, including fee wavier, and scholarships for university students, Federal Education Minister, Rana Tanveer Hussain, revealed on Friday.
The decision comes following a meeting with the chairman Higher Education Commission and other officials of the Ministry for devising a strategy to give an urgent response to the devastation caused by floods in the country.
According to the details, the Government is decided to defer the fee payment for university students, while working to devise a mechanism for possible fee wavier and provide special scholarship program for Undergraduate and Graduate students from flood-affected areas.

The Education Minister further said that doing fund raising, providing food and tents, setting up medical camps and transitional schools was the top priority at the moment. “Our Government under the able leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is fully committed to providing maximum relief to our people suffering from flood calamity,” he added.
He said that the Government stands “firm with our people and will do whatever it takes for rehabilitation” of those affected by the severe flooding across the country.

It is pertinent to mention that around 200 school buildings have been damaged by the recent floods that caused a disruption in educational activities in several areas of South Punjab alone.
