Intel Announces 13th Gen Desktop CPUs With Up to 24 Cores & 5.8GHz Speeds

Intel has announced its 13th generation of desktop processors, which are codenamed ‘Raptor Lake’ and said to offer up to 15% better single-threaded performance and up to 41% better multi-threaded performance over the current generation of CPUs.

According to the details, Intel’s 13th generation of CPUs include three new models that have two variants each. Furthermore, the Intel 13th generation of processors can be installed in existing 12th generation motherboards without having to spend any extra money.

The 13th generation GPU family includes the Core i9-13900K and its iGPU-less variant, the 13900KF and both are equipped with 8 P-cores and 16 E-cores for a total of 32 threads with no hyperthreading on the E-cores. Furthermore, the CPU has 32MB of L2 cache and 36MB of Intel Smart Cache (L3) and the P-cores can also boost to a whopping 5.8GHz and the E-cores up to 4.3GHz, while drawing a base power of 125W and a max Turbo power of 253W.

Moreover, the price of the Core i9 13900K is $589 and the 13900KF is $564 but these are not the official retail price but the recommended customer price (RCP) that is given to retailers for every 1000 units purchased. Therefore, the actual market price of the CPU is expected to be much higher.

Next is the Intel Core i7-13700K and 13700KF having 8 P-cores and 8 E-cores with a total thread count of 24 and has 24MB L2 cache and 30MB L3 cache. Furthermore, it can boost up to 5.4GHz on the P-cores and 4.2GHz on the E-cores with a base power of 125W and max Turbo power of 253W.

Moreover, the Core i7-13700K has an RCP of $409, while its Core-i7-13700KF variant will cost RCP of $384.

The last processor is the Intel Core i5-13600K and its 13600KF variant and comes with 6 P-cores and 8 E-cores for a total thread count of 20 and 20MB of L2 cache and 24MB L3 cache with the ability to boost up to 5.1GHz and the E-cores up to 3.9GHz, while using base power of 125W and a max Turbo power 181W.

The Core i5-13600K will have an RCP of $319 and 13600KF will have an RCP of $294.

It is pertinent to mention that all six models of the Intel 13th generation CPUs feature 20 CPU PCIe lanes (up to 16PCIe 5.0 + 4 PCIe 4.0) and support for both DDR5 5600 and DDR4 3200 memory, with faster memory supported through XMP.

Meanwhile, all non-F variants include the Intel UHD Graphics 770.

The 13th generation of intel processors will come with a brand new Z790 chipset but they will also be compatible with previous 600-series motherboards.
