The Government of Sindh has announced a public holiday on 12th Rabi-ul-Awal, 1444 A.H. (9 October 2022) on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
In a notification, the Government of Sindh announced that offices, autonomous, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under its administrative control will remain closed on given date. However, there will be an exception for essential services engaged in COVID-19 emergency will remain operational despite the public holiday in Sindh.
On September 26, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (RHC) announced that Rabi-ul-Awal 1444 A.H. moon was not sighted in Pakistan and thus, Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) would fall on October 9 (Sunday).
Muslims across the globe observe the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) on the 12th of the Islamic month of Rabi-ul-Awal.
In related news, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced a bank holiday on 12th Rabi-ul-Awal (October 2022) as well.
