Google Pixel 7 & 7 Pro - Here's Everything You Need to Know

Google unveiled its latest iteration of the Pixel smartphone – The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro – during an event on 6 October 2022 alongside the Pixel Watch and Pixel Buds Pro. The Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are powered by the second generation of Google’s own Tensor chip and bring several improvement to the camera alongside other features like a high refresh rate, a distinctive look, and long software support.

Display

The Google Pixel 7 is equipped with a large 6.3-inch AMOLED screen with 1080p resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and support for HDR10+ along with a peak brightness of 1400 nits. Meanwhile, the Pixel 7 Pro has a larger 6.7-inch curved LTPO AMOLED display with 2K resolution, a refresh rate of 120Hz and a slightly brighter screen with 1500 nits.

Internals

The smartphones are powered by Google’s own Tensor G2 chip and offers slightly better CPU and GPU performance compared to last year’s G1 chip. Furthermore, the Google Pixel 7 comes in two memory configurations, including 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage, while the Pixel 7 Pro offers up to 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage.

Camera

The Google Pixel 7 has two cameras on the back, including a main 50MP 1/1.31” sensor and a secondary 12MP ultrawide sensor, while the Pixel 7 Pro gets the same 50MP sensor for the main camera, but offers a better 12MP ultrawide shooter and a third 48MP telephoto unit with 5x optical zoom.

Both smartphones are equipped with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) on the main camera and they are capable of recording 4K videos at 60 FPS. Google has also added Cinematic Blur, which is similar to Apple’s Cinematic Mode.

Meanwhile, the front cameras on both phones offer a 10.8MP ultrawide shooter.

Battery and Charging

The Pixel 7 Pro comes with 5,000 mAh, while the standard Google Pixel 7 comes with 4,355 mAh battery and both smartphones support 30W wired charging and 20W wireless charging with support for reverse charging as well.
