The Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) has revealed their monthly sales data for September 2022 and we have compiled a list of the best selling cars in Pakistan during the month September 2022. According to the report, car sales in Pakistan have dropped by 6% in September 2022 compared to August 2022.
However, this was expected as automotive industry is facing a lot of obstacles from import of Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kits due to restrictions from State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to fluctuation in the Pakistani Rupee (PKR) against the US Dollar (USD to PKR).
It bears mentioning that non-PAMA members such as Changan, Morris Garages (MG), United Motors, etc. do not reveal their sales data, therefore, they are not included in the sales data provided by PAMA and we have not included them in the list of top 10 best selling vehicles in Pakistan during the month of September 2022.
Best Selling Cars in Pakistan – September 2022
These are the best selling cars in Pakistan for the month of September 2022:
1. Suzuki Alto
Suzuki Alto maintains its position on the top of the list of best selling cars in Pakistan during the month of September 2022 due to its affordability and reliability compared to other vehicles in the entry level market. Suzuki Alto was able to sell 2372 units in September 2022 compared to previous month (August) when it sold 2293 units, which translates to an increased sale of 3%.
The price of Suzuki Alto in Pakistan starts from 1,699,000 for the entry-level VX variant, Rs. 1,976,000 for the VXR variant and it goes all the up to Rs. 2,223,000 for the AGS (Automatic Gear Shift) variant.
2. Toyota Corolla & Yaris
Meanwhile, Toyota Corolla and Yaris sold a combined 1780 units in September 2022 compared to 2901 units in August 2022, which means a drop of 39% in sales for the company when it comes to its best selling vehicles and some of the reasons for the decline in sales is non-production days (NPDs) being observed by the company as well as reduced affordability due to inflation and increased prices of petroleum products.
The price of Toyota Yaris in Pakistan starts from Rs. 3,539,000 and goes all the way up to Rs. 4,259,000, while the price of Toyota Corolla starts from Rs. 4,569,000 and goes all the way up to Rs. 5,749,000, which is a massive increased compared to start of the year.
3. Suzuki Swift
Suzuki Swift also managed to make on the top 3 of the list of best selling cars in Pakistan for September 2022 as the vehicle sold 1263 units during the month compared to just 532 units in August 2022, which means the company witnessed an increase of 137% in sales for the vehicle.
The price of Suzuki Swift in Pakistan starts from 3,180,000 and goes all the way up to Rs. 3,760,000, while the company is also offering a limited edition variant for the Swift GL CVT at Rs. 3,450,000.

4. Honda Civic & City
Furthermore, Honda Civic and City were able to sell a combined 1201 units in September 2022 compared to the previous month of August 2022 when the vehicles sold 1436, which translates to a loss of 16% in sales for the company when it comes to its best selling cars in Pakistan.
The price of Honda City in Pakistan is Rs. 3,769,000 for the base variant and goes all the way up to Rs. 4,479,000 for the top-of-the-line variant. Meanwhile, the price of Honda Civic in Pakistan is Rs. 6,349,000 for the base model while the top-of-the-line model is sold for Rs. 7,549,000.
5. Toyota Fortuner & Hilux
Toyota was able to sell 837 combined units of Toyota Fortuner and Toyota Hilux during September 2022 compared to the previous month (August 2022) when it sold 975 units that means a drop in sales of 14% for the vehicle.
The price of Toyota Fortuner in Pakistan starts at Rs. 11,579,000 for the base variant while the top-of-the-line variant costs Rs. 14,699,000. Meanwhile, the price of Toyota Hilux Revo starts at Rs. 8,449,000 and goes all the way up to Rs. 11,179,000, which means these vehicles are out of the affordability of many people.
6. Suzuki Wagon R
Suzuki Wagon R managed to make it on the list of best selling cars in Pakistan for September 2022 with sale of 766 units for the month compared to just 365 units in August 2022, which means the company improved sales by 110% for its best selling vehicles on a month-on-month comparison.
The price of Suzuki Wagon R starts at Rs. 2,421,000 for the VXR variant and goes all the way up to Rs. 2,754,000 for the Automatic Gear Shift (AGS) variant.
7. Suzuki Cultus
Suzuki managed 751 sales of Suzuki Cultus during September 2022 compared to just 411 units sold in August 2022, which is an 83% increase in the month-on-month figures for the company despite massive obstacles for the automotive industry during ongoing economic crisis.
The price of Suzuki Cultus in Pakistan starts from Rs. 2,754,000 and goes all the way up to Rs. 3,234,000 for its top variant.
8. Suzuki Bolan
Suzuki Bolan sold 609 units in September 2022 compared to just 227 units in August 2022, which is a sharp increase of 168% in sales for the vehicle and puts it on the list of best selling cars in Pakistan for the month of September 2022.
The price of Suzuki Bolan in Pakistan Rs. 1,500,000 for its base model, while the top-of-the-line variant costs Rs. 1,487,000.
9. Hyundai Elantra
Hyundai barely managed to make it to the list as the company experienced massive drop in sales in September 2022 compared to August 2022. According to the PAMA report, Hyundai Elantra was also sell 320 units in September 2022 compared to 581 units in August 2022, which is a drop of 45% in month-on-month sales figures.
The price of the Hyundai Elantra in Pakistan is Rs. 5,099,000 for the 1.5L variant, while the 2.0L variant costs 5,699,000.
10. Hyundai Tucson
Hyundai Tucson managed to make it on the list of best selling cars in Pakistan during September 2022 but the vehicle saw a massive drop in sales compared to August 2022. According to the sales data provided by PAMA, Hyundai Tucson sold only 275 units in September 2022 compared to 985 units in August 2022.
The price of Hyundai Tucson in Pakistan starts at Rs. 6,899,000 for the GLS Sport (FWD), while it goes all the way up to Rs. 7,399,000 for the top-of-the-line variant, which is the Ultimate (AWD).
This was the list of top 10 best selling cars in Pakistan during the month of April, which was dominated by Suzuki and it is no surprise since the company holds the entry level market with its hatch-backs allowing it to make more sales as not everyone is able to afford a sedan or SUV.
Drop in Overall Sales
However, it bears mentioning that most companies (except Suzuki) suffered massive loss in sales in September 2022 compared to August 2022 due to several problems that are plaguing the automotive industry at the moment.
Toyota Indus recorded the lowest sales as company sold just 2617 units in total during the month of September 2022 compared to 3876 units in August 2022, which means a decline of 32%. Meanwhile, Honda Atlas also witnessed a sharp decline of 29% as company sold just 1280 units compared to 1809 units the previous month.
Similarly, Hyundai Nishat witnessed massive drop in sales of 50% as company was only able to sell 967 units in September 2022 compared to 1929 units in August 2022. However, Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) was the only one who witnessed an increase of 58% in sales as company sold 6009 units in September 2022 compared to just 3954 units in August 2022.
