The sequel to Todd Philips’ Joker, Joker: Folie À Deux, is all set to enter the production phase by the end of 2022 with movie scheduled for release on October 4, 2024, exactly five years after the original film.
In June 2022, Todd Philips shared an Instagram post of the screenplay cover and announced the sequel to the film with the official title, Joker: Folie À Deux.
The filmmaker also revealed that he would return to direct the project alongside co-writer, Scott Silver.
In August, the official release date for the sequel, Joker: Folie À Deux, was revealed i.e. October 4, 2024, which is exactly five years after the original film.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, cinematographer Lawrence Sher has spoken about his next project, Joker: Folie À Deux, after he has finished working on Black Adam.
He revealed that Joker: Folie À Deux will be hit production in five to six weeks and the film will be shot largely on sound stages in Los Angeles as well as on location in New York.
The film star Joaquin Phoenix will be reprising his role as Arthur Fleck with Lady Gaga joining the cast as Harley Quinn, a character previously played by Margot Robbie in the DCEU.
It is pertinent to mention that Joker: Folie À Deux is not set in the DCEU, therefore, Margot Robbie may continue to reprise her role as Harley Quin in future projects.
Recently, Margot Robbie spoke about Lady Gaga taking the role and expressed excitement at the alternate portrayal of Harley.

The story of the film will revolve around two people in an asylum and it will showcase their romance, while the title of the film means “shared madness (delusions) by two people in close association.”
