Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) has just launched the Suzuki GSX 125 last week as a replacement for the popular GS 150 SE and the motorbike competes head to head with the Yamaha YBR 125 G in terms of engine capacity and price (although there is quite a bit of difference, these two motorcycles are still the closest in terms of their retail price for a 125cc bike).

On the other hand, Yamaha YBR 125 G has been in the market for the last few years and has already established itself as a durable and reliable motorbike with good parts availability and service across the country, whereas, the Suzuki GSX 125 has been out for only a few days and it will take some time before parts are readily available at third-party dealers.

Engine and Transmission

The Suzuki GSX 125 is powered by a 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, which is capable of producing 10.45 horsepower (hp) and 9.2 Nm of torque, while mated with a 5-speed constant-mesh transmission. On the other hand, the Yamaha YBR 125 G also has a 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that produces 10.7 horsepower (hp) and 10.4 Nm of torque.

This gives Yamaha YBR 125 G an edge over the new entrant – Suzuki GSX 125 – since the YBR is lighter in terms of weight as detailed below.

Meanwhile, the Suzuki GSX 125 has a front tire size of 2.75 – 18 and the rear tire size of 90/90 – 18, while the Yamaha YBR 125 G has a front tire size of 3.00 – 18 and the rear tire size of 90/90 – 18. However, as mentioned above, the tires on the GSX 125 are tubeless, which will provide a real convenience to the rider compared to YBR 125 G that still uses conventional tubed tires.

The Suzuki GSX 125 has the following features that are missing from the YBR 125 G:

Furthermore, it is pertinent to mention that Suzuki GSX 125 does not have a kick-start and functions only with the Self-starter, which is drawback gives a point to the YBR 125 G as it has the ability to be able to function if the battery dies or the self-starter doesn’t work.

Price

The price of Suzuki GSX 125 in Pakistan is Rs. 359,000 and price of Yamaha YBR 125 G is Rs. 336,000 – 339,000, depending on the color, which is still around Rs. 28,000 lower than the GSX 125 and it is a lot a lot of difference for a motorcycle that doesn’t offer much extra.

The above mentioned prices are effective from 1^st November 2022, however, we can except an increase anytime as these motorcycle manufacturers hike rates almost every other month without any justifiable reason.
