Meta-owned encrypted messenger, WhatsApp, has introduced a new update for ‘WhatsApp Business’ on Android and iOS that will allow users to search for businesses, chat with them, and buy products directly from the application. However, the feature is currently available in select countries, including Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Mexico, and the UK.
In a blog post shared on its website, WhatsApp shared that the new feature will help users on Business profile to easily contact businesses using the WhatsApp Business Platform instead of saving their phone numbers into contacts or search for details on business websites.
In addition, users will be able to shop directly from the application instead of having to visit the business website and the encrypted messaging platform has collaborated with various payment partners to let users shop products directly from the application itself.
The instant messenger will allow users to make secure payments via credit or debit cards on the app. “This seamless checkout experience will be a game-changer for people and businesses looking to buy and sell on WhatsApp without having to go to a website, open another app or pay in person,” the company said on its blog.
WhatsApp has also rolled out the Polls features along with Communities for the group conversations on both Android and iOS interfaces. Like all other features on the platform, WhatsApp Polls are also end-to-end encrypted. Moreover, the company has introduced the ability to include 32 people in a one-tap video call and doubled the participant limit for groups.
The instant messenger is also in the midst of testing ‘Companion Mode’ that will allow users to use the same phone number on two different smartphones by linking your primary account to a secondary smartphone to access all the regular features offered by the encrypted messaging platform.
