The Chief Minister of Punjab, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, has approved the procurement of 513 hybrid / electric buses in Lahore.
According to the details, the Punjab CM chaired the 19th meeting of the Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA) at his office and ordered to arrange more buses for feeder routes in the city and the expansion of the SpeedO Feeder Bus Service from Lahore to Sheikhupura and Muridke to accommodate the periphery localities.
Furthermore, the CM also ordered the revival of the Punjab Transport Company and repair and maintenance of the buses under the Pakistan Metro Bus System in Rawalpindi and Islamabad along with procurement of new buses for the routes.
Moreover, it was also decided to continue the Bahawalpur to Lodhran Bus Service and add 12 buses to the route due to increase demand. The Punjab CM added that eight stations of the Orange Line Metro Train would be commercialized along with improvement in the Lahore Metro Bus Service.
It was also decided to procure services of NRTC for automatic fare collection and bus scheduling system alongside building eight new stations for the Orange Line Metro Train System in Lahore.
Furthermore, the meeting decided to hand over the janitorial services of the Pakistan Metro Bus Services in Rawalpindi / Islamabad to the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company.
