California-based tech giant, Google, has registered itself as a company in Pakistan with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). According to ProPakistani, Google has been issued a certificate of registration by the SECP under Section 435 of the Companies Act 2017.
Google is reportedly planning to open an office and beginning operations in Pakistan sometime this month. As per an earlier report, a delegation from the company will visit Pakistan on December 11 to start operations locally.
Furthermore, the report by ProPakistani states that TikTok, a social media company known for its short-form videos, is also planning on setting up an office in Pakistan, while the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) is currently in talks with Facebook as well.
It is pertinent to mention that Google has already launched Career Certificates to offer flexible learning paths for Pakistani youth and enable them to develop their knowledge and acquire digital skills for in-demand jobs.

Google in collaboration with Umang Pakistan also launched a suicide helpline in Pakistan to tackle the rising number of suicidal cases in the country. Through this initiative, Google provides the hotline at the top of the search result if a user searches or browses anything related to suicide.
