Twitter initially launched Twitter Blue for $8 per month, which included a blue tick and verified checkmark. However, the service was suspended following a surge of fake accounts pretending to be certain brands and known public figures.
During this time, Musk slammed Apple for no longer advertising on Twitter and also went as far as to criticize the company for its “secret 30% tax”, even though it wasn’t a secret and was charged a a processing fee.
However, as per new reports Twitter is bringing back Twitter Blue soon, but the subscription is now going to cost more on the iPhone and it will be cheaper on the website. According to the details, Twitter Blue will be available for just $7 per month via the website, but if you’re signing up through an iPhone, it will cost you $11 per month.
The reason behind the higher price on the iPhone is Apple’s 30% processing fee for accepting payments through Apple’s platform. However, Twitter isn’t going to be the first app to follow this method as many others (eg. Snapchat) have increased rate on the iPhone compared to other platforms.
There are no reports regarding Twitter Blue on Android yet, but it is very likely that the company will charge a similar amount as the iPhone because of Google Play Store’s processing fee. So it will be best for users to subscribe to the feature via web.
