In this article, we are going to do a user review of the Honda CG 125 2023 model, which is one of the most popular motorcycle in the country along with its younger brother, Honda’s CD 70. The Honda CG 125 2023 review will discuss some important aspects of the motorcycle, including the fuel average, quality and reliability as a utility vehicle.
Introduction
Honda CG 125 is being sold in Pakistan for over three decades and has dominated the motorcycle industry with its high number of sales compared to any of its competition. The reason behind the popularity is Honda’s durability and easy maintenance as the CG 125 is mostly used as a utility vehicle by people who want an affordable vehicle.
Furthermore, the Honda CG 125 has one of the best resale value in the country, which is an important factor when buying anything here.
Honda CG 125 2023 is the latest model that was introduced by Atlas Honda a few months ago and made CG enthusiasts super excited as the vehicle got a refreshed sticker, however, the company kept everything else the same like always since it is meant to be a utility vehicle.

Honda CG 125 2023 Build and Design
The build quality of the Honda CG 125 is satisfactory for the price tag, which is getting kind of expensive with the recent inflation but it is still reasonable when compared to the competition in the 125cc range.
In terms of design, the company has kept the design for the Honda CG 125 very basic and mostly unchanged since the vehicle was introduced in the 1990s, which is one of the reasons why the vehicle is considered easy maintenance as all mechanics know how to work on it and parts are readily available across the country.
Engine and Transmission
The Honda CG 125 2023 comes with a 125cc engine that is mated with a 4-Speed Constant Mesh Transmission and produces 10-11 horsepower (hp) and 9.5 Newton meters (Nm) of torque. Furthermore, the vehicle has a lot of power and it can easily reach over 100km/h with a single person.
However, we would advice against going too fast on this motorcycle as it lacks the proper braking power in case of emergency braking.
Starter
The CG 125 comes with just a kick-start that is very annoying that the company could have included a self-start in this price range. However, the self-start variant is available for an extra Rs. 33,600, which is a lot.
You may get a self-starter installed on your own motorcycle from aftermarket mechanic at much cheaper rates.
Honda CG 125 2023 Fuel Average
The fuel average of Honda CG 125 2023 is around 35-40km/l, which is surprisingly less than the competition with a similar engine size, including Yamaha YBR G that manages over 40km/l. However, the low mileage of the CG 125 is due to the fact that the motorcycle is equipped with a 4-speed transmission.
However, you need to make sure you keep your motorcycle well maintained with the spark plugs clean, tire air pressure regularly checked, and oil chances done at regular intervals in order to get the best fuel average on Honda CG 125 2023.
Headlight
The headlight on the Honda CG 125 2023 are subpar like all previous models and usually need a third-party upgrade in order to get better visibility at night time. In case you are a night rider, you may want to spend some extra cash for an upgraded aftermarket headlight or add some LEDs to make up for the motorbike’s pre-installed headlight deficit in this arena.
Suspension
The suspension is acceptable but nothing too comfortable but that is understandable at the given price range, which has increased but still remains low compared to other 125cc motorbike options available in the market.
Furthermore, you may have heard reviews stating there is a lot of vibration in Honda CG 125 2023 and while these statements are true, they are being over exaggerated and the vibration isn’t too bad in my opinion and mostly there because vehicle stays under high RPM with the 4-speed gearbox.
Comparing the Honda CG 125 2023 to other 125cc utility motorcycles from Road Prince or United, the CG 125 is far superior in terms of suspension quality and overall durability on broken roads. It is pertinent to mention that CG 125 is commonly used in farms due to its reliability and durable suspension.
Brakes
The bike seriously lacks good brakes and doesn’t handle braking at speeds over 60-70km/l very well. However, the braking is satisfactory if the motorbike is kept around 60km/l, which is understandable as it was never meant to go this fast or be used on highways.
There’s not much you can do to improve on the breaking performance of the vehicle except keep them well maintained and serviced on time. Please avoid going too fast on this motorcycle as it seriously lacks when it comes to emergency braking.
Tires and Road
The tires on the Honda CG 125 2023 are not up to the mark and very small at 2.50 – 18 (front) and 3.00 – 17 (rear), which leads to low road grip. However, you may get tires that are slightly larger to improve this factor.
To be fair, CG 125 2023 comes with tires that are too thin and resemble a bicycle. We just recommend that you pay attention to the road taking into consideration the pothole situation here and avoid / slow down when you see a puddle of water or wet road as chances or slipping are high, especially with stock tires.
Price
The price of Honda CG 125 2023 is Rs. 185,900 (w.e.f 1 November 2022), which may seem a lot but it still remains reasonable compared to the competition and the rising inflation. It must be mentioned that all motorcycles have gotten huge price hikes during the last couple of months due to the economic situation of the country.
Verdict and Recommendation
If you’re looking for an affordable motorcycle with easy maintenance, the Honda CG 125 2023 is a good option to consider. However, if you are willing to go a little above the price range, you may consider getting a used Yamaha YBR 125 G or even YBR 125 Z, which are more comfortable.
Although, if you need a motorcycle for utility use such as delivery services, the Honda CG 125 2023 is the go to option due to reliability, easy maintenance, and cheap parts. Furthermore, there are also other options like Chinese brands but they often break down quicker on rough use and roads.
NOTE: Safety Comes First – Always Wear a Certified Helmet and Do Not Remove The Rear-View Mirrors – They Are Very Important to Catch a Glimpse of Who is Behind You.

One correction must be made in the review. Honda 125 is in use in Pakistan for more than 4 decades. My cousin owned a 1981 model, in 1984. I’m not sure about it’s availability prior to that..
