The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to launch a brand new trophy for the upcoming eight edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL 8 2023), which is set to commence on February 13 in Multan and conclude on March 19 in Lahore with matches also being placed in Karachi and Rawalpindi.
According to the details, the new PSL 8 2023 trophy will be put on display at the Shalimar Bagh in Lahore on February 9 during an unveiling ceremony that will be attended by captains of all six franchises and the PCB Management Committee Chairman, Najam Sethi.
This means that existing trophy that was presented to last year’s (PSL 7) champions, the Lahore Qalandars, will be replaced by a brand new trophy with a refreshing design.
“Yes, the newly designed trophy will be presented to the winners of the eighth edition. The one that was used and presented to winners of the last seven editions will no longer be there,” a PCB official told Geo Sports.
He said that design of the new PSL 8 trophy would project Pakistan and its cricket in a better way. “Hopefully, cricketing fans around the world would like the new trophy,” he added.
PSL 8 2023 is scheduled to commence from February 13 with defending champions, Lahore Qalandars, going up against the Multan Sultans at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
Furthermore, the tickets are on sale for the first-leg of the tournament.
