Proton Pakistan has started giving full refund to customers, who requested cancellation of their bookings due to delivery delays and price hikes caused by fluctuations in the US Dollar to Pakistani Rupee (USD to PKR) exchange rates..
It is pertinent to mention that our local automotive industry is going through one of its worst crisis due to restrictions of import of Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kits and depreciation of the Pakistani Rupee against the US Dollar, which has increased the cost of production.
The company received a number of booking cancellation requests last year and it finally released schedule for refund to customers. Furthermore, the company has stated that it will now be following a ‘First-In-First-Out’ policy for future cancellations.
According to the details, Proton Pakistan will be issuing a 100% refund for booking cancellations based on the following schedule:
Cancellation Request (2022) | Refund Month (2023) |
---|---|
August | February |
September | March |
October | April |
November | May |
December | June |
The company is following in the footsteps of Toyota Pakistan, who offered full refunds with markup for booking cancellations as it also failed to meet its delivery deadlines due to the country’s worsening economic conditions and import restrictions.
