Karachi Kings defeated Lahore Qalandars by 86 runs in the 30th match of the ongoing season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 8 2023) held at the Lahore Qaddafi Stadium.
Karachi won the toss and elected to bat first, which allowed them to set a decent target of 197 runs for the Lahore Qalandars to chase in the second innings.
Despite the loss of an early wicket as Haider Ali was dismissed for just 8 runs in just 5 balls, Muhammad Akhlaq and Tayyab Tahir had a splendid partnership and scored 51 and 40 runs, respectively.
Qasim Akram failed to perform and he was dismissed for just 2 runs, but Imad Wasim and Ben Cutting added much needed 45 and 33 runs, respectively.
Meanwhile, Irfan Khan was dismissed for no runs, while James Fuller was only able to score 10 runs and Mohammad Umar added 1 run to the total as both played towards the end of the innings.
Lahore Qalandars had a rough start to the innings with Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique being dismissed too early for just 11 and 6 runs, respectively. Kamran Ghulam and Sam Billings also failed to score any significant runs and were sent back to the pavilion for just 11 runs each.
Hussain Talat managed 25 runs off 25 balls, which was not the best strike rate and everyone who came in afterwards failed miserably and barely scored enough to get even close to the target.
