The Government of Punjab has announced five public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr 2023, which is expected to fall on 21st or 22nd April, depending on the sighting of the Shawwal moon.
According to the notification, the public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr 2023 in Punjab will be observed from 21 April 2023 to 25 April 2023 (Friday to Tuesday).
“It is notified for general information that 21st to 25th April, 2023 (Friday to Tuesday), will be Public Holidays, in the Province of Punjab, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.” said the notification.

The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (RHC) is scheduled to meet for the Shawwal moon sighting on the 29th Ramadan (20 April 2023).
However, the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council (RHRC) has said that chances of the moon sighting on April 20 remain low and Ramadan is likely to complete 30 days this year with Eid-ul-Fitr being celebrated on 22 April 2023.

Furthermore, Pakistan Railways (PR) has announced five special trains for Eid-ul-Fitr that will allow people to travel home and spend the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays with their families.
