The Shawwal moon was not sighted by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (RHC), which means Eid-ul-Fitr 2023 in Pakistan will be celebrated on 22 April 2023 (Saturday).
The meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was chaired by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad in Islamabad and it was attended representatives of the Department of Meteorology and Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO).
Meanwhile, the Zonal Committees met at their designated locations across the country for the sighting of the Shawwal crescent.
However, the Shawwal moon was not sighted by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee or the Zonal Committees, which means that Eid-ul-Fitr 2023 will be celebrated on 22 April 2023 (Saturday).
Earlier, the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council (RHRC) Secretary General, Khalid Aijaz, stated that possibility of sighting the moon on April 20 was very low and Ramadan was likely to complete 30 days this year.
The Federal Government has announced five-day public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr 2023 from April 21 to April 25, while the Pakistan Railways launched special trains for the convenience of the people.
