Probe ordered in Ramban killings ‘mere formality’: Geelani

Kashmir Srinagar: Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Saturday termed the condemnation statement by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and probe ordered by Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde into Ramban killings as ‘routine and mere formality’.

“Neither will any investigation happen nor with any personnel be prosecuted in the Court of Law”, Geelani in a statement said.

Talking about the alleged desecration of holy Quran, Geelani said that for Muslims such act is very severe and that Government is trying to cover up the case by providing a monetary relief to families of the victims.

Geelani condemned the imposition of curfew across Kashmir valley and usage of large forces against demonstrators that resulted in injuries to about 50 people on Friday.
