The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has announced several holidays for school and colleges, saying that educational institutions will remain closed until Saturday (13 May 2023) in light of the law and order situation in the country.
Protests have erupted across the country after arrest of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, Imran Khan, from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) by Rangers personnel, who acted on the instructions of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
KP Education Advisor, Rehmat Salam, said that both public and private schools and colleges will remain closed until Saturday (13 May 2023) and all examinations would be cancelled in light of the law and order situation across the country.
The decision to announced multiple holidays for schools and colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) was taken in the interest of students’ safety and security as riots and protests are taking place across the country.
Furthermore, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Government has called the Pakistan Army, under Section 245, to assist with the law and order situation in the province.
