Meta-owned WhatsApp has finally introduced a screen-sharing feature for beta users running WhatsApp for beta version 2.23.11.19. According to WABetaInfo, the screen-sharing feature can be enabled by tapping on the new icon in the call control menu during a video call.
“WhatsApp will have access to all of the information that is visible on your screen or played from your device while recording or casting.” reads a pop-up message after clicking on the screen-sharing icon. “This includes information such as passwords, payment details, photos, messages, and audio that you play,” it added.
The new screen-sharing feature will help WhatsApp finally compete with apps like Zoom or Microsoft Teams enabling the platform to be used for activities like giving a presentation during work meetings.
However, the screen-sharing feature might be more helpful if it is introduced on WhatsApp Desktop, as you don’t see a lot of use of the feature on a smartphone.
What do you think about the new screen-sharing feature on WhatsApp? Let us know in the comments section below.
