The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced to conduct the national medical and dental college admission test (MDCAT) on 27 August 2023.
The decision was made in PMDC’s second council meeting, which was chaired by President Dr Rizwan Taj. The meeting discussed important matters related to the MDCAT 2023 registration, syllabus and other issues.
PMDC has decided that MDCAT 2023 exam will be taken from last year’s syllabus and the council also directed all provincial secretaries to start preparations for the MDCAT exam.
Last year, almost 204.529 students appeared in the examination, while this year’s estimate says that 210,000 students are likely to participate in the annual examination. The council has emphasized the importance of taking all stakeholders on board to ensure secrecy of the MDCAT 2023 exams.
It was also decided that NUMS will be admitting university responsible for admission in all armed forces-administered medical and dental colleges and NUMs admission test shall be considered on par with the national MDCAT.
The council has also addressed the matter of taking into consideration the MDCAT paper difficulty index without compromising merit to ensure that provinces conduct exams without any trouble to students.
