The Government of Sindh has announced public holiday on 9th and 10th Muharram (Ashura), which fall on 28 and 29 July 2023 (Friday and Saturday).
A notification has been issued by the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department of Sindh.
“The Government of Sindh declares 28th and 29th July, 2023 (Friday and Saturday) as Public Holidays on the occasion of Ashura (9th and 10th Moharram-ul-Haram 1445 A.H) throughout the Province of Sindh.”
Furthermore, the Government of Sindh added that the Ashura holiday will apply to all Government Offices, Autonomous, Semi-Autonomous Bodies, Corporations, and Local Councils under the Administrative Control of Government of Sindh.
However, essential services are an exception and will be operational as usual.

Furthermore, the Sindh Government has also banned pillion riding across the province on 9th and 10th Muharram in order to maintain safety and security of the people during any processions taking place.
