Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5 With Some Major Changes

Samsung has just wrapped up its Galaxy Unpacked event of the year and the company has unveiled its new folding phones, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, which include some major changes.

After months of speculations and leaks, Samsung has finally unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which comes with major changes this time, which include a much larger 3.4-inch cover display that stretches from device’s hinges to its dual cameras.

Now, the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s cover screen can run full Android apps, a feature previously found in the Moto Razr Plus.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 now folds totally flat and ships with the upgraded Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. However, the screen on the inside of the device remains unchanged with a 6.7-inch OLED panel.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will retain the remain of $999 despite the upgrades.

Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 does not offer many major changes, but it still comes with some improvements. Similar to the Z Flip 5, the Z Fold 5 comes with the upgraded Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and an updated hinge that allows the device to hold flat when closed.

This makes the device much thinner than its previous variant, measuring at 13.4mm (previously 14.2mm) when closed. Some other upgrades include a boost to the screen’s brightness, which now sits at 1,750 nits.

The price of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 remains unchanged at $1,799.
