Breaking Bad Actor Mark Margolis Dies Aged 83

Mark Margolis, the beloved actor known for his portrayal of vengeful drug lord Hector Salamanca in the hit TV series Breaking Bad and its prequal Better Call Saul, has passed away at the age of 83.

According to the details, Margolis was hospitalized at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City following a brief illness and succumbed to his condition on Thursday.

The news was confirmed by his son, Morgan Margolis, who is also an actor and the CEO of Knitting Factory Entertainment.

Mark Margolis was famous for a lot of notable roles throughout his career, including Alberto the Shadow, a Bolivian henchman, in Brian De Palma’s Scarface (1984) and the gruff landlord Mr. Shickadance in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994).

Meanwhile, he captivated audiences with the role of mob boss Antonio Nappa in HBO’s Oz from 1998 to 2003.

However, Margolis had his breakthrough role as Hector Salamanca in Breaking Bad in 2009 and its prequal Better Call Saul, where he played the role of a paralyzed character who communicated through his facial expressions and bell attached to his wheelchair.

He received critical acclaim for his performance in the role and earned an Emmy nommination for outstanding guest actor in a drama series in 2012.
