In another tragic incident, another case of torture on a minor domestic help in Islamabad has surfaced online after the victim’s mother lodged a complaint with the police and it is one of the many similar cases becoming public in the last few months.
According to the details, a minor girl, identified as 13-year-old Andleeb Fatima, who was working at a house in Islamabad’s Sector G-15, was subjected to torture at the hands of the employer, who also locked her in a room.
The police has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the suspect, who is a woman, under Sections 342, 506, and 328 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) at the Tarnol Police Station.
However, the police has not arrested anyone and allowed the victim and her family members to return to their native village.
The victim’s mother, Khalida Bibi, who hails from Chiniot, said her daughter, 13-year-old Andleeb Fatima, was working as a domestic help in a house in Sector G-15 since July. However, the employer did not let her daughter contact her family via phone or any other means.
“My daughter Andleeb started crying upon watching me and asked of me to take her home. Upon asking the reasons behind her crying, she disclosed that the house lady daily tortured her ruthlessly without any guilt and locked her in a room,” the mother told police.
Andleeb Fatima told police that her employer, the lady suspect, used to burn her body with a searing iron spoons and used to keep her locked up without providing proper food or water. She added that is was a regular routine to get beaten up at their hose.
The police has launched an investigation in the matter.
Yesterday, another similar case started trending on social media with #JusticeForFatimaFariro, a 10-year-old housemaid, who was tortured to death by her employer in Ranipur Town of Sindh’s Khairpur district.
