Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah today blamed a Molvi (cleric) for Gool Ramban incident where four people were killed in the firing of Border Security Force (BSF).
BSF opened fire on protesters in Gool Ramban when people were protesting against alleged Quran desecration by troopers on 18 July, while scores were injured.
Omar, while claiming that Quran desecration was “baseless” said, “Molvi spread rumours that Holy Quran has been desecrated which were baseless.”
He also claimed that Molvi instigated people against BSF and he provoked them to attack their camp.
“It was that Molvi who provoked people against BSF. Molvi provoked people to attack the camp,” he said, adding: “who provoked people in Ramban has to be seen.”
