Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a nationwide strike on September 2 to protest against extremely high electricity bills being delivered to consumers across the country.
According to the details, Jamaat-e-Islami has declared a shutter-down strike on September 2 to challenge the Government against inflated electricity bills.
In various cities of Pakistan, citizens have resorted to burning their electricity bills as form of protest against rising power tariff in the country.
The citizens have urged the Government to reserve excessive taxes being added to electricity bills to fulfill the demands of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
It is pertinent to mention that electricity prices have gone up by 80% since 2022 in the country.
The matter is made worse by regular and massive hikes in price of petroleum products, which has caused a substantial increase in inflation and rise in price of basic commodities.
Therefore, Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a shutter-down nationwide strike to protest against heavy electricity bills on September 2.
