Pakistan beat Bangladesh in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2023 by seven wickets at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday.
Aisa Cup’s Pakistan vs Bangladesh match was an interesting one after the green shirts were off to a flying start and they were able to restrict Bangladesh to just 193 runs during the first innings.
The home side was able to take their first wicket on the seventh ball of the match. After Shaheen Afridi bowled a maiden over, Naseem Shah was able to remove Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who scored 100 against Afghanistan, on his first ball of the innings.
Wickets continued to fall for Bangladesh, who were all out by the 38th over. Despite Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakil Al Hasan building a 100-run partnership, they failed to score an impressive total.
Pakistan had no trouble chasing the 194 run target and completed the match in the 40th over. Opener Imam ul Haq was able to score 78 runs off 84 balls, which included nine boundaries.
He was followed by Mohammad Rizwan who scored 63 runs for his side. While Pakistan struggled a bit during the start of their innings after Fakhar Zaman was removed by Shoriful Islam for just 20 runs, they managed to keep the situation under control.
After Zaman, skipper Babar Azam was dismissed by Taskin Ahmed’s low bounced delivery. Babar Azam was only able to score 17 runs off 22 balls.
Pakistan will now face arch-rivals India in their next Super Four match of the Asia Cup 2023 on September 10 (Sunday).
