Apple was unveiled the much-anticipated iPhone 15 series, including the iPhone 15 and iPhone Plus, which have gotten some serious upgrades over last year’s model. While the Pro variants get the most coverage and attention, Apple didn’t forget about the basic iPhone 15 and 15 Plus models.
One of the most sought after features of this year was the USB-C port, which has finally arrived on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, which was mandated by the EU but Apple is too big to admit that it is the reason why its been added, alongside the company’s famous Dynamic Island.
Furthermore, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have also been equipped with one of the brightest display on a smartphone at 2,000 nits peak outdoor brightness (twice as high as the previous generation).
The new smartphones also offer a textured matte finish, a contoured edge on the aluminum fame and an all-day battery life. Meanwhile, Apple has equipped with iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus with last year’s A16 Bionic chipset, while the Pros variants get the latest iteration.
In terms of camera, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have a 48 MP main camera which can shoot “optical quality” 2x telephoto pictures. However, the default resolution of the camera on these devices is 24 MP for “incredible image quality at a practical file size.”
The camera offers sharper detail, more vivid color, and improved low-light performance along with next generation portraits. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will automatically capture depth information, which allows you to turn any image into a portrait later if you wish (as well as adjust the focus point).
The smartphones support emergency SOS via satellite calling in 14 countries already with Spain and Switzerland being added to the list later this month. Furthermore, Apple has added Roadside Assistance via satellite to the new iPhone models.
The iPhone 15 starts at $799 with the iPhone 15 Plus starting at $899 and both are available in 128 GB of storage. Preorders for the devices start September 15 (Friday) and shipment will commence from September 22.
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will be offered in pink, yellow, green, blue and black.
