Justice Qazi Faez Isa has taken oath as the 29th Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) at a ceremony at the Aiwan-e-Sadar on Sunday.
The development follows the retirement of Justice Umar Ata Bandial.
Justice Qazi Faez Isa was sworn in by President Dr Arif Alvi at a ceremony held at the President House in Islamabad in the presence of interim Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Asim Munir.
The ceremony was also attended by top military officials, caretaker federal ministers, senators, and foreign ambassadors.
Justice Isa will serve the top judicial office until October 25, 2024.
Justice Qazi Faez Isa, who was born on October 26, 1959, in Quetta, is the son of late Qazi Mohammad Isa, a prominent leader in the Pakistan Movement and a close associate of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
