China is gearing up to launch its Cheng E6 lunar mission during the first half of 2024 and it is all set to carry a Pakistani satellite to moon’s orbit among its payload.
The China National Space Administration (CNSA) has recently announced on Weibo, a Chinese social media platform, that its Cheng E6 mission is on track to embark on its journey in early 2024.
Furthermore, the mission will promote international cooperation as it will not only carry payloads from China but also from several other countries, including Pakistan, the European Space Agency (ESA), France, and Italy.
Among the scientific instruments aboard the Cheng E6, French equipment will be used to detect radioactive gas on the moon’s surface. Additionally, the mission will also carry ESA’s Negative Ion Detector and Italy’s Valle Brett Radar System to the moon.
Moreover, China’s Chang’e 6 mission will also carry Pakistan’s CubeSat Satellite, which will be placed in the lunar orbit. Meanwhile, the Cheng E6 is set to explore the moon’s dark side and collect samples from the surface before making its way back to Earth.
The primary mission objective of the Cheng E6 is to acquire lunar samples from various regions in order to enhance our understanding of the moon’s age and geological history.
