South Africa defeated Bangladesh by a massive 149 runs in the 23rd match of the ICC World Cup 2023 at the Wenkhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday.
The Proteas recorded their fourth win in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 with their biggest win against England by a massive 229-run margin.
Chasing a target of 383 runs, Bangladesh had no chance of winning with the team being 31-3 in just 7.1 overs.
Bangladesh lost Tanzid Hasan for just 12 runs, while Liton Das was only able to contribute 22 runs off 44 balls.
The entire batting lineup failed to perform, except Mahmudullah, who managed to score 111 runs from 111 balls.
Earlier, South Africa’s Quinton de Kock annihilated Bangladesh as he scored 174 runs off 140 deliveries with 15 fours and seven sixes.
Despite some setbacks as Reeza Hendricks and Raisse van de Dussen lost their wickets for a score of 12 and 1, respectively, South Africa managed to get back in the game with Aiden Markram (60), Heinrich Klaasen (90), and David Miller (34) taking the team’s score to 382 runs.
South Africa will now play Pakistan in Chennai on October 27, while Bangladesh will play Netherlands in Kolkata on October 28.
