Pakistan has been re-elected to the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for a four-year term from 2023 to 2027.
The announcement was made by Pakistan’s Permanent Delegation to UNESCO in Paris, which highlighted that Pakistan received the highest number of votes in the group.
Expressing gratitude, the delegation stated, “We are thankful to member states for their support and trust. Pakistan will continue to work together with all member states in advancing our shared objectives.”
Pakistan acknowledges the ongoing and crucial role of UNESCO as a universal platform for promoting intellectual and moral solidarity, as well as the advancement of global peace and development through education, science, culture, and communication.
During its renewed tenure on the Executive Board, Pakistan commits to collaborating with all member states to enhance UNESCO’s mandate. This includes advancing mutual goals, contributing to policymaking, developing norms, promoting global priorities, and ensuring effective oversight of the organization’s programs and activities.
As a staunch advocate of multilateralism, Pakistan aims to strengthen collective efforts at UNESCO by fostering collaboration across regions, building consensus on key issues, and achieving tangible outcomes with a real impact on the ground. In its role as a partner, Pakistan pledges continued proactive support for the SIDS Operational Strategy and Global Priorities, particularly in Africa and Gender Equality.
