In Dubai, it’s crucial for drivers to have clear and readable license plates to avoid hefty fines of up to Dh3,000 and accumulate 23 black points on their licenses.
If your license plate is stolen or damaged, Dubai Police provides a service for residents to apply for a lost certificate, applicable not only to license plates but also for other essential documents like passports, Emirates ID, and vehicle licenses.
For Lost License Plates:
- Obtain an Arabic letter from your company or institution detailing the lost plate.
- Provide your Emirates ID or passport details, including gender, date of birth, nationality, and email address.
Steps to Obtain a Lost Certificate:
- Complete the application form on the Dubai Police app, entering personal details, the lost item category, and details of the loss (date, time, and location).
- Pay the service fees, which include Dh50 for the service and Dh20 for the knowledge and innovation fee. If applying in person, an additional Dh100 fee applies, payable in cash or digitally by card.
- After payment, submit your request and receive a transaction number via SMS and email for tracking.
- Once processed, you’ll receive your lost certificate and receipt via email, valid for 30 days from the date of issuance.
