The upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP28, is set to be the largest climate change conference, taking place at Expo City Dubai from November 30 to December 12. If you’re passionate about the environment and eager to contribute to positive change, here’s how you can secure a free Day Pass to access the Green Zone at COP28.
Expo City Dubai, the conference venue, will feature two distinct zones—the Blue Zone, exclusively for accredited party and observer delegates managed by UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change), and the Green Zone, accessible to the public. The Green Zone offers an immersive experience with breakthrough climate innovations, cutting-edge technology, interactive exhibits, inspiring art installations, film screenings, and talks across Expo City Dubai.
To visit the Green Zone during COP28, you need to register for a Day Pass. Here’s a simple guide on how to apply:
- Visit the official website: https://greenzonepass.cop28.com/
- Choose the day(s) you wish to attend, with the option to select multiple days.
- Indicate the number of passes (up to two per applicant) and proceed to ‘Check out.’
- Provide your email address, full name, mobile number, and nationality. Click ‘next.’
- Complete the process by clicking ‘complete.’
- Receive a confirmation email with your pass details, including a QR code.
- Show the QR code at the Green Zone gate for entry.
The Green Zone will feature daily themes, with activities centered around topics such as ‘Youth, Children, Education, and Skills,’ ‘Nature, Land Use, and Oceans,’ and ‘Food, Agriculture, and Water.’ Over 100 free events, including workshops, exhibits, and community events, are open to the public.
For transportation, COP28 attendees are encouraged to use the Dubai Metro’s Red Line to reach Expo2020 Metro Station, conveniently connected to Dubai International Airport and various hotels and attractions. Shuttle buses from Expo2020 Metro Station to all Green Zone gates will be provided. If driving, follow ‘COP28’ road signs to Expo Road (E77) from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) or Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street (D54), taking Exit 21 and then Exit 8.
