WhatsApp is reintroducing a highly requested feature on WhatsApp Web and Desktop, allowing users to once again access View Once photos and videos beyond their mobile devices.
The View Once feature was initially available for media, but in November 2022, WhatsApp removed it from its official browser platform and PC app due to privacy concerns. However, the feature is now making a comeback on all major platforms, including Web and Desktop, following a recent update.
According to a report from WABetaInfo, users of WhatsApp Web and Desktop have observed the reactivation of the View Once feature. The functionality appears to have been restored after updates to the desktop client and the website. Notably, the View Once feature is operational on both the Windows and macOS versions of WhatsApp Desktop.
To clarify, the View Once feature enables users to send pictures and videos that can only be viewed once. Once the recipient clicks on the View Once message in the chat, the media will disappear and cannot be accessed again. While it was previously possible to take screenshots of pictures, the company released an update that rendered screenshots ineffective.
