The Abu Dhabi Police released traffic rules in preparation for the upcoming UAE National Day celebrations this weekend, warning drivers of heavy fines and action on any kind of violation.
Authorities issued advice for drivers, outlining key tips to ensure a safe celebration across Abu Dhabi.
Traffic Rules for UAE National Day Celebration in Abu Dhabi
- Vehicle decorations should not alter the original colors, and overloading vehicles is not allowed.
- Offensive phrases or inappropriate stickers on vehicles are prohibited.
- Both front and back license plates must remain visible and not be covered.
- The use of any type of spray by motorists, passengers, or pedestrians is not permitted.
- Reckless driving and performing stunts are strictly forbidden.
- Rallies are prohibited, and motorists should not obstruct traffic or block others’ paths.
- Covering side windows, front or rear windshields with stickers or sunshades is illegal.
- Passengers must be safely seated inside the vehicle, avoiding riding in the trunk of a pickup truck or on top of a car.
- Reduce speeds near pedestrian crossings, especially in areas near parks and tourist spots.
- Motorcycle users are advised to wear helmets, protective clothing, and ensure the safety of the bike, headlights, and tires.

Furthermore, the police urged the public to avoid protruding from windows or sunroofs to prevent accidents and the use of sprays (party sprays) on pedestrians is prohibited.

- Reckless driving may result in a Dh2,000 fine, 23 black points, and a 60-day vehicle impoundment.
- Discarding waste from vehicles can lead to a Dh1,000 fine and 6 black points.
