Vivo is gearing up for the global launch of its X100 series smartphones, featuring the powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chip. The Vivo X100 and X100 Pro were initially released in November, praised for their performance and camera capabilities. While a slip-up on Vivo’s global website hinted at a pre-order date of November 24th, the actual sale date and pre-order details are yet to be officially announced. The global launch date for the Vivo X100 is expected on December 14th.
Both models sport a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with 1.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and an in-screen fingerprint scanner. Additionally, they are IP68-certified for dust and water resistance. The camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle unit. The standard version has a 64MP telephoto lens, while the Pro version features a 50MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. Both models have a 32MP selfie camera and Vivo’s V3 imaging chip.
Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC, the smartphones offer up to 16GB LPDDR5T RAM and 1TB UFS 4 storage. The X100 and X100 Pro come with 5,000mAh and 5,400mAh batteries, supporting 120W and 100W wired charging, respectively. The X100 Pro also supports 50W wireless charging. OriginOS 4, based on Android 14, runs on these devices.
With a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI), the new operating system includes an AI-driven Windows Shell and an “advanced co-pilot” Copilot AI assistant, designed to enhance user experiences such as search, application launches, workflow management, and context understanding. The use of AI necessitates new Neural Processing Unit (NPU) hardware, potentially rendering older computers incompatible with some AI-focused features. Microsoft’s commitment to AI-powered improvements is evident in recent updates to Windows 11, setting the stage for the anticipated release of the Hudson Valley update, possibly marketed as Windows 12, in the latter half of 2024.
